I have been in the North Island looking at Maori business activity

Last week as a Board Member of NZTE I spent a couple of days in the North Island looking at Maori business. We concentrated on the Taupo area and had a good download from businesses involved in fisheries, dairying, horticulture and geothermal activity.

A highlight for me was visiting Miraka Ltd and seeing the dairy factory at Mokai together with geothermal activity, horticultural production and a vermiculture operation.

We were hosted on the Mokai  Marae where we dined and overnighted. We were superbly looked after and all got a good, if somewhat brief, insight into business, life and happenings in the centre of the North Island.

There is a lot of good stuff going on and it was a privilege to be able to see some of it.
